Art, in its many forms, is all around us, and it is something anyone can create. Some of us are born with artistic talent. Others lack artistic instincts, but find themselves drawn to the arts, studying their principles so that they, too, can express themselves.

A few, however, create art that truly moves us. They have an innate ability to bring artistic expression forth from their soul, and they work with a desire to perfect this natural ability. Their work has the power to touch us on a deeper level.

Sheena, the founder of Rooted Harmony, is one such artist. She has been shaped by her life experiences in much the same way that a rose bush is pruned and cared for, in order to bring forth its natural beauty.

As a child, she often spent time with her mother in her garden, learning how to care for plants and flowers, and gained an appreciation for plants as more than just background decorations. These early experiences planted the seeds of Sheena’s love for plants.

In high school, Sheena took a job working in a flower shop, which exposed her to floral arrangement as a medium for artistic expression. This became a conduit for her passion, and allowed her to begin to express the emotions she held within. Sheena often says that flowers are her “therapy”, and finds comfort in her work, for both herself and for others.

As her talents with flowers developed, she began to receive encouragement from family members who gave her some of her first opportunities to create arrangements for others on a grand scale. Weddings, funerals and holidays all became labors of love for the young botanical artist, and she began to learn how to help others express themselves through flowers.

At the same time that her love of flowers was growing, Sheena was preparing for a career working with young children as an educator. She found this to be a second passion, and loved the privilege and responsibility of helping others learn.

As she has developed both her artistic and teaching careers, she has found ways to combine the two, teaching others how to care for and arrange all types of plants. She continues to pursue opportunities that help her learn new skills and perfect her craft.
